The Vampire Industry

Alongwith Science Fiction and Fantasy Horror as a genre is popular for RP inSecond Life. In fact it seems to be very popular. I have observed thatcertain genres have different gender ranges. Science Fiction remainsmostly a male domain where as horror remains a popular date flickgenre. Flirtation is the exchange driving Second Life culture and notsurprising this Vampire complex is always crowded as far as I can tell.

Gendered Vampires

Many SL residents construct their racial identity as vampires. I can only take this as a post-modern giving up on racial issues all together. Plus vampires are hunters of humans, not co-species. Thrust in to a life at night when humanity works during the day, hunting humans and living free of the end of death the vampire is the anti-human, and to assert a Vampire race is to, as in Star Trek, make races a catagory beyond the human.
